Porsche Cayenne BALROG thumb Porsche Cayenne BALROG by Jeremie ParetAlmost every single tuning company tried to make Porsche Cayenne Turbo better looking. Just few of the them succeeded and the BALROG is among them. Aggressive wide bodykit, engine tuning and nice new wheels.

The company spent 8 months of research between his customers to deliver the best quality and now Jeremie Paret is proud to introduce this amazing SUV.

The BALROG includes a front bumper with genuine Cayenne Turbo side lights and fog lights with angel eyes. The bumper delivers more air to all intercoolers of the Cayenne, and the cooling of the front brakes. Moreover, the drilled luxury grill offers an innovative design in automotive styling.

Of course, all Porsche options, like the xenon nozzles or the parking detectors, can be mounted on the BALROG bodykit. The wide fenders allow the BALROG to fit very large wheels for an improved handling and better style.

The rear spoiler and its diffuser deliver more aerodynamic pressure. The diffuser can be removed in only a few minutes to let you install your tow hook. At last, the side skirts finish to give to the BALROG its so different and eye-catching look.

edo competition C 63 thumb edo competition C 63Experiencing this exceptional vehicle on the road even surpasses what it promises on paper. The latest generation of the AMG C-Class offers a perfect blend of unrivalled performance and expressive styling.

Remarkable comfort, sporty manners and long distance capability are not mutually exclusive qualities for this car.

Power in abundance and unbridled V8 goodness are provided by edo competition.

The verdict was unanimous: 457 horsepower and 600 Nm (442 ft-lb) are not enough. A newly developed high-performance exhaust system, exhaust headers, high-flow catalytic converters, new air filters and a recalibrated ECU (including top speed governor removal) boost these numbers to an impressive 555 horsepower and 680 Nm (501 ft-lb). As a matter of principle, all recalibrations done by edo competition are verified on the dynamometer to document the true power output.

The facts about the exceptional edo C 63: 6.3 liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, 408 kW (555 hp), 680 Nm (501 ft-lb) of torque, 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds, top speed: 199 mph – there’s no better way to sum up the capabilities of the edo C 63!

The high-performance exhaust featuring butterfly valves is as aurally impressive as it is advanced, monitoring the exhaust backpressure in real-time. The accompanying controller is programmable and the integrated 70 mm exhaust flaps open at a predetermined level of backpressure. The advantage of this system is that it provides a good amount of torque at low revs without restricting the maximum power at the top end. The high-flow exhaust system is made from 100% stainless steel and the stock-like dual exhaust tips underscore the expressive styling.

To provide superior levels of grip, edo competition offers exclusive wheel/tire combinations. Using a new wheel design the C 63 was equipped with a set of ultra-lightweight 19 in. sport wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. Front: 235/35 19, Rear: 265/30 19.

As with all edo competition models, we set no limit to our customers’ imaginations. Special interiors or lavish leather upholstery, individual requests are accommodated and executed with quality.

X-Bow Power Upgrade Endorsed By KTM

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

KTM X Bow thumb X Bow Power Upgrade Endorsed By KTMKTM X-BOW owners wishing to take the extraordinary performance of their ‘Ready to Race’ sportscar to the next level can now benefit from a significant power upgrade.

Developed by engine tuning experts ABT Sportsline, the upgrade will raise the already-potent X-BOW’s peak power to an impressive 300bhp (from 240bhp in standard tune) and boost torque to a formidable 400Nm (from 310Nm), lifting the vehicle’s power-to-weight ratio to 380 bhp per tonne. Crucially, the ABT upgrade delivers these increases while retaining the flexibility of the engine, which provides highly accessible peak power and torque over a relatively wide rev band.

Combined with the vehicle’s light weight and Dallara-developed chassis, the increased power will launch X-BOW from rest to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds – compared to 3.9 seconds in a 240bhp car.

The upgrade – which is the only tuning solution recommended by KTM – will be sold as an aftermarket package and can be retrofitted to all X-BOW models. It costs £5,300 fully fitted (incl. VAT) and comes with a two year warranty – testament to the extensive development testing undertaken to meet KTM’s exacting requirements.

KTM X-Bow

“X-BOW’s racecar-inspired chassis and sophisticated aerodynamic package have always given owners the ability to go head-to-head with some of the world’s most exotic machinery,” comments Jeff Lau, KTM’s X-BOW Manager for the UK. “This power upgrade will ensure that X-BOW owners seeking an even more extreme experience can do so in total confidence, building upon the quality assurance of the expert engineering and exquisite finish for which X-BOW is recognised.”

Existing owners interested in equipping their X-BOW with the factory-recommended power upgrade should contact their nearest service partner, where the part can be fitted by ABT’s specialist engineers. Based in Kempten, Germany, ABT Sportsline is renowned for carrying out tuning work on Volkswagen Group powertrains.

H&R Megane Grandtour

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

HR Megane Grandtour thumb H&R Megane GrandtourAccording to Renault the Mégane Grandtour should change our minds regarding estate cars. The powerful curves should emphasise its dynamic qualities. Because of this the specialists at H&R-Spezialfedern have developed suspension components for the fresh French vehicle that will support its factory DNA.

The resulting suspension kit lowers the chassis of the new Mégane Grandtour by around 35 millimeters. This makes the Renault not only visually more attractive but also lends the newcomer a touch more dynamism – without any perceptible loss of comfort.

Additional highlights can be gained from the soon to be available H&R TRAK+ Wheel Spacers of high tensile aluminium – regardless of whether they are combined with works or tuned wheels.

The often unsightly gap between the wheel arch and the edge of the wing can thus be visually perfected.

The Next-Generation CVT by Nissan and JATCO

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Next Generation CVT thumb The Next Generation CVT by Nissan and JATCONissan Motor Co., Ltd., a long-time leader in the development and application of CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) technology, and its affiliate transmission supplier JATCO Ltd. today announced the joint development of a new generation of compact and lightweight CVTs.

The next-generation CVT design features an innovative structure combining conventional CVT belt operation with an auxiliary gearbox and a significantly increased gear ratio range. The new CVT is scheduled to appear in compact Nissan vehicles worldwide in the near future.

Next-Generation CVT

Major features of the new CVT are:

  • World’s highest transmission ratio for quicker starts and acceleration – The new structure raises the available transmission ratio from current 6.0:1 to 7.3:1, more than 20 percent higher than other CVTs, for enhanced responsiveness on starting and acceleration. The 7.3:1 ratio is higher than the average conventional 7-speed automatic transmissions used on high-displacement engine-equipped vehicles, making it among the world’s highest ratios for production vehicle use*.
  • Compact and lightweight – This revolutionary CVT configuration combines a belt-operated CVT with an auxiliary transmission, shortening its overall length by 10 percent and reducing weight by 13 percent compared to conventional CVTs in its class.
  • Superb drivability – The next-generation CVT features the Adaptive Shift Control (ASC), which improves performance by automatically selecting the best ratio for startup, acceleration and uphill or downhill driving.

“Nissan believes the CVT has very good potential as a leading technology for raising the fuel efficiency of internal-combustion engine systems,” said Shuichi Nishimura, corporate vice president, Nissan Powertrain Engineering Division. “Nissan first began applying CVT technology in 1991 and has been continuously evolving CVTs, engine-cooperative management and other systems, and expanding their use in Nissan vehicles. The need to improve fuel economy, with the resulting reductions in CO2 emissions motivated us to step up our efforts in the joint development with JATCO of this next-generation CVT.”

JATCO, the world’s leading CVT manufacturer, is the only company that offers a full range of CVTs for applications from mini-vehicles up to 3.5-liter V6-equipped cars. The company produces 43 percent of CVTs made globally.

“The revolutionary structure of the next-generation CVT, with its auxiliary transmission, not only raises the transmission ratio, reduces weight and adds fuel efficiency, its compact design also expands its applicability to a broader range of vehicles,” said Yo Usuba, vice president, JATCO. “We believe it is an excellent choice for automakers seeking to raise the fuel efficiency of their smaller cars.”

Based on the mid-term environmental program “Nissan Green Program 2010,” Nissan and JATCO have achieved sales of 1 million CVT-equipped vehicles, as well as introducing 7-speed automatic transmissions to improve fuel efficiency. The companies will continue to introduce effective technologies and products into the market in pursuit of a sustainable mobility society.

* Excluding DCTs and manual transmissions.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Confirms Ghost Figures

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

rolls royce logo thumb Rolls Royce Motor Cars Confirms Ghost FiguresRolls-Royce Motor Cars has confirmed headline performance figures for Ghost, their new model which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

The Ghost will be powered by a brand new 6.6 litre turbo charged V12 engine unique to Rolls-Royce. This engine will produce 563 bhp, delivering a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and a governed top speed of 155 mph. The engine is combined with an 8-speed automatic ZF gearbox.

Rolls-Royce Director of Engineering, Helmut Riedl said, “First and foremost Ghost is a Rolls-Royce. This means that despite its extraordinary performance figures it has been engineered for effortless composure and refined power delivery. This is illustrated by the significant levels of low down torque available which makes pulling away very smooth and for an exceptionally relaxed driving experience.

Riedl continues, “Rolls-Royce power is entirely different to anything else in the automotive world. It is delivered free from stress and exertion but at the same time must engage the driver. Ghost is about fingertip control while still enjoying a dynamic connection with the road. Equally passengers need to be cosseted from the physical sensations of acceleration, braking and cornering. Our chassis set up keeps Ghost stable and flat, preventing it from wallowing or pitching in the corners or imposing undesirable forces on those inside.”

Rolls-Royce has already confirmed that the Ghost will ride on an intelligent four corner air suspension system using multi link aluminium front and rear axles. The fully integrated system allows each of the Ghost’s dynamic handling systems to work together in harmony, providing the optimum levels of refinement and comfort at all times.

Rolls-Royce Ghost

The vehicle acoustics also play a vital role in creating the authentic Rolls-Royce environment. Naturally engine, exhaust and even tyre noise have been engineered to be inaudible as far as possible, both internally and externally.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Chief Executive Officer, Tom Purves, said, “Ghost is not about a single superlative but rather a careful blend of attributes. A Rolls-Royce should carry its power with grace, agility and refinement and this is never achieved by a focus on outright performance. Mastery comes in creating a balance and having driven the Ghost again recently I can say confidently that our engineering team has achieved this in fine style.”

Customer deliveries of Ghost in the UK and Europe will begin late in 2009 with pricing from £165,000 excluding taxes and delivery charges. Customer deliveries in other markets including the USA and Asia Pacific region will begin from the second quarter 2010.

When the ZDX goes on sale this winter, customers will have the choice of three distinct trim levels: ZDX, ZDX with Technology Package and the ultra premium, ZDX with Advance Package. The ZDX with Technology Package adds several features including a Navigation System with Voice Recognition™, an Acura/ELS Surround® premium audio system and a new multi-view rear camera. The Advance Package boasts additional customer enhancing technologies like a blind spot information system, a Collision Mitigating Braking System™ (CMBS™), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
