Toyota could face a raft of reopened vehicle-rollover lawsuits after allegations by a former in-house lawyer that the automaker concealed and destroyed evidence and conspired to obstruct justice in civil cases.
Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co., Japan’s two largest carmakers, led the first rise in that nation’s auto sales in 13 months as government incentives and new hybrid models boosted demand in August. Sales in South Korea rose for the second straight month.

Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) — Toyota Motor Corp., Honda Motor Co. and Hyundai Motor Co., buoyed by the U.S. government’s “cash for clunkers” rebates, had their highest monthly sales this year and led Asian brands to their first combined sales gain in 15 months.
